You can't smell your own property, but your potential buyers can. There are certain smells which will always put buyers off, and there are other smells which subliminally work in a positive way on potential buyers.

Smells that will work against you include animals, smoking and food smells. You'll have already followed our other tips for cleaning and airing your room, but if you have animals, especially larger dogs, pay attention to smell.
If you are a smoker, do not smoke in the property from now until you've sold it. Clean and store ashtrays. Smoke outside, but do not litter the floor with cigarette butts!
Always remember to ensure any bins inside the house are completely empty before every viewing. Your kitchen waste needs to be in the bin outside. Many sales have been spoilt because of the very subtle smells of vegetable peelings!
Subtle air freshening products are very advanced these days, and are a good investment.

Lastly, there are certain smells which are claimed to work subconsciously on buyers. These smells include the smell of freshly baked bread, roast coffee, or cinnamon. Try this out before hand, and only if you have a large kitchen. The smell needs to be subtle, not overpowering, to work.
